What Is the Prostate and What Does It Do?

Prostate gland is one of the most important parts of the male reproduction system. Prostate is located below the bladder and into the front of rectum; it is the organ that stores urines. The prostate is primarily made from a muscle and glandular tissues. The main function of the organ is to generate fluid intended for semen, which specifically carries the sperms. When the male reaches his climax or orgasm, the muscular construction squeezes the fluid from through the urethra. Sperm can then be produced in the testicles which are pushed through the urethra during an orgasm. During the ejaculation, the semen leaves the penis.

There are three types of prostatitis:

  • noninfectious prostatitis
  • chronic infectious prostatitis
  • acute infections prostatitis

Noninfectious prostatitis – This type of prostatitis is not primarily caused by bacteria, the cause of this condition is unknown. However, antimicrobial medications cannot treat this kind of protatitis.

Chronic infectious prostatitis – This type of prostititis is caused by a certain bacteria that involve the use of antimicrobial medication to treat this condition. Compare to acute prostate infection, the main symptoms of this condition is bladder infection or recurring infectious cystitis.

Acute infectious prostatitis – This type of prostatitis is a condition that caused by bacteria, which can be treated by antimicrobial medications. This condition develops unexpectedly and its common symptoms are fever and chills, which are extensive. That is why a visit to the nearest urology clinic or emergency room so that the urology specialist can provide essential diagnosis and treatment as well as hospitalization.

How Does Prostatitis Develop?

These types of prostatitis are not infectious and do not considered sexually transmitted diseases. Keep in mind that your sexual partner cannot be infected with this condition.

The main symptoms of this condition are chills, fever and frequent urinating, burning and painful sensation during voiding. Perineal, low-back pain, swollen, tender, pain in the prostate, painful ejaculation and there’s a presence of blood in the urine.
